How to compare hotel prices after the tempting headline rate
A low nightly rate can look different once mandatory fees, taxes and the cost of reaching the property are included. Compare the complete stay before deciding which listing offers better value.
Use the same assumptions
Enter identical dates, guest numbers and room requirements. Note the currency and whether the displayed total includes all mandatory charges. A prepaid nonrefundable room is not directly comparable with a flexible booking unless that tradeoff is intentional.
Price the location
Estimate the transport time and cost for the activities you expect to do. Check the actual address rather than relying on a broad neighborhood label. A room farther away can still be a good choice, but the savings should survive the full calculation.
Save the terms you selected
Keep the cancellation deadline with its time zone, payment schedule and room description. If an important feature is unclear, ask the property before booking and retain the reply. This worksheet does not rank hotels; it helps make the comparison honest. The best-looking price is useful only when it buys the stay you think it does.
